Chef Byron S. Landry was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He grew up with the traditional Sunday meal in a large family and was interested in how his grandmother could feed so many. He began to cook when his mother gave him his first cook book at the age of nine.

His debut as a professional began at the age of nineteen when he prepared a Cajun banquet for one hundred and forty five fraternity brothers at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. After graduating from college, he spent the next fifteen years in the food service industry.

When he opened his own catering company he was able to develop his famous recipes. In 1990, Chef Landry began catering conventions and found that adding one special ingredient would generate miles of smiles. That ingredient was comedy, which launched his nationally known Chef Landry’s Comedy Cajun Dinner Shows. This was so successful that clients began requesting him to present his show, even if he wasn’t catering the event. He now travels around the country presenting the show at fairs, festivals, conventions, corporate events, and even fundraisers. Watch the video below of Chef Landry at the 2018 Santa Maria Valley Strawberry Festival in California.

Chef Landry has served his spicy Cajun flair to senators and congressmen, movie stars and music luminaries, royalty, and three presidents. He has shared stages and billing with such notable chefs as Paul Prudhomme, Marlin Yan, John Foles, and Chef Tell.

When he’s on stage, his accent flows as thick as gumbo roux and he tosses out one-liners as easily as he tosses shrimp into his cast iron cooking pot. His audiences laugh, learn and, dines at the end of his presentation. Chef Landry can put fun into any event by providing a generous supply of humor, along with appetizing Cajun dishes.
